Carrot (C-MX) ECU

• What is a Carrot (C-MX) ECU?

  The Carrot C-MX ECU is a programmable ECU that is able to make a combustion engine function as efficiently as possible. It means that it is able to be set to a specific application using the programming software. This allows the engine in question to be fully adjusted to your wishes.

• How much extra power can be gained with the Carrot (C-MX) ECU?

  This depends entirely on the mechanical capabilities of the engine. By tuning the ECU, the user determines whether the engine's capabilities are fully exploited. It is the task of the ECU to control the engine correctly under all circumstances.

• Do i need to tune the ECU?

  If you order an ECU for a specific MX bike, we can already preload the ECU with a base mapping for this model. To get the most out of the Carrot ECU, it will need to be finetuned according to engine setup, exhaust, rider preference, etc. Therefore, it is highly recommended to always have a Carrot Communication Interface, so that settings can be changed in the ECU using the Carrot Management Software.

Mapping/Tuning

• Why do you need to tune the ECU on a dyno?

  It is not necessary to tune an ecu on a dyno. You can also do this on the street or circuit, but this is a lot more difficult and less accurate. On a dyno you have a controlled environment where the measurements are very accurate. In addition, a dyno offers the possibility to hold a certain engine loads for a longer period of time, which allows you to adjust more effectively.

• What is a mapping?

  The mapping is the file which is stored in the memory of the ECU, in which all the settings are stored to control the engine. The mapping can be adjusted using the Carrot (C-MX) Management software.

• Do you have a base mapping for my bike?

  We are constantly trying to expand and improve our database of base mappings. When you install the Carrot (C-MX) Management software, an "Examples" folder is also installed in the installation directory. Here you can find all available base mappings. If you do not find the right mapping here, you can always contact us.

Software/Firmware

• What is Carrot software?

  Carrot software are the tools you can install on your laptop/PC to communicate with the Carrot ECU. The Carrot (C-MX) Management Software is the tool to adjust the mapping of the ECU. The Carrot Firmware downloader is the tool to adjust the firmware of the ECU. You always need a Carrot communication interface for these software tools.

• What is Carrot Firmware?

  Carrot firmware is the programming code that works in the background to ensure that the ECU can perform its functionalities properly. With the help of the software tool "Carrot firmware downloader", you can update a Carrot ECU with a more recent firmware version. Pay close attention to whether the firmware in question is suitable for the type of Carrot ECU.
